Lumitester PD-20 and LuciPac-Pen
ATP/AMP Hygiene Monitoring Guide
The Lumitester PD-20 & LuciPac-Pen system is a unique, patented platform with a roprietary enzymatic recycling technology that enables detection of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), and the degradation bi-products of ATP including ADP (adenosine diphosphate) and AMP (adenosine monophosphate).
It offers significant competitive advantages over other hygiene monitoring systems that only detect ATP. The Lumitester PD-20 & LuciPac-Pen system eliminates a number of important testing concerns associated with detection of ATP alone and delivers these important advantages:
- Assures testing accuracy and interpretation between operators – even across multiple locations.
- Evaluates both the cleanliness and sanitation of the test sample.
- Delivers actionable data for proactive administration of clean in place programs
- Teaches the importance of hygiene programs, including personal hygiene (hand washing)
- Sensitive across a broad spectrum of sample matrices including food products, hard services, food preparation and service equipment.
Due to its unstable nature, the use of ATP may not give a true indication of sanitation efficiencies. ATP rapidly degrades into ADP and AMP, therefore detecting ATP only may not be a good indication of effective cleaning and biofilm removal. AMP is a more stable, persistent molecule associated with biological activity and residual biofilm. Detection of biofilms with the Lumitester PD-20 & LuciPac-Pen system gives users a more precise, reproducible indication of the effectiveness of both cleaning and sanitation. The system is simple, accurate and delivers essential information for effective, cost efficient process control.
Choosing the best testing approach is critical to achieving the standard of continuous process improvement required under HACCP. The Lumitester PD-20 & LuciPac-Pen system is designed to assist in the establishment of the workplace hygiene protocols required in the food, beverage, industrial, personal care, pharmaceutical and healthcare environments.
The system consists of using an AMP/ATP detection device and swabs. Users can determine pass/fail levels based on a established baseline of Lumitester results and then applying pass/fail thresholds to monitor HACCP initiatives.
With the implementation of this monitoring procedures, detection of ATP that has degraded to AMP due to heating, fermentation or chemical treatment in the processing environment are detected, ensuring that unclean surfaces are identified. Clean-in-place and sanitation protocols can quickly be monitored and verified for effectiveness, problem areas in HACCP programs can be identified, brands can be protected and workplace cleanliness can be cost effective and convenient.
